Our own Vavista team member Emily has been following the Vavista 10KAnyWay 12-week programme in preparation for running the Bristol Simplyhealth 10K race in May. Read on to find out how her training is going and how she gets on in the last four weeks leading up to the race!
The one-week-to-go marker has come up so quickly! It’s been quite a quiet running week for me, getting two runs in on Sunday and Wednesday.
Sunday was the #FinishForMatt 3.7 mile (6k) run to finish the last bit of the London Marathon that he tragically didn’t get to complete. I did a shorter run of the 9k loop from two weeks ago and managed to complete it without walking. His JustGiving page is still open if you’d like to donate.
On Wednesday we did an easy 4.5k afternoon run from the office – I was very slow on this due to the huge lunch I’d had! We ran a good few hours after I’d eaten but I was still ridiculously full and I would not recommend it! The benefit of hindsight is a wonderful thing.
The plan now is to keep on top of my cardio fitness with a few 5 to 6k runs in the last week leading up to the race – one on Sunday and another on Wednesday, just to keep myself ticking over without hammering my legs too much on the tarmac before the day.
The next time I write the race will be done and dusted! See you all on the other side.
